Chat with someone
Talk anonymously with someone who fits.
How does it work?
You choose your gender, marital status, whether you want to talk or listen, up to 5 topics, and who you'd like to talk to (gender, age, marital status). Why pairs you with someone who shares at least one topic and fits what you both want.
Adults only.
What does the other person see about me?
Only "Stranger", your age, gender and marital status. Your name, account and profile are hidden. They only see your account if you press "Add friend".
Why is it limited to 2 hours?
Without identity verification you get 2 hours from your first conversation. After that, verify with an ID card, driver's licence or passport to keep using it. This keeps chats with strangers safer.
How are identity documents handled?
Document photos and your name are stored encrypted, opened once by a Why reviewer to check them, and permanently deleted right after the review. Why keeps the "verified" result, your date of birth, and the document type, number and issuing authority recorded by the reviewer. These are encrypted, used to stop one document being used for several accounts, and never shown to other users.
Someone is behaving badly
Press "Report this person" and pick a reason. They are blocked immediately and the chat ends. The Why team reviews the report.
