Messages and calls
Chat, send files and locations, and call.
Who can I message privately?
Friends (you both accepted), and both of you must be of legal age in your countries.
My device asks for my password when I open Messages
This happens once on devices that were signed in before multi-device messages existed. Enter your Why password to unlock messages on that device.
Sending files, photos and locations
Paperclip: send any file up to 25 MB. Photo button: send a photo. Map pin: send your current location (Why asks you first).
Photos preview inline; PDFs and videos open in the page; other files download.
Forwarding
Press the arrow next to a message and pick a friend. The message is encrypted again for the new recipient; files are re-encrypted with a new key.
An old message says "Cannot be decrypted on this device"
Messages sent before multi-device support can only be read on the device that received them at the time.
